If you're headed to the Wisconsin Dells, ski at Cascade Mountain. Its hills and trails are quite visible from the 90/94. Whatever direction you're traveling from, you're sure to find the drive to be easy and the scenery natural and beautiful. City dwellers, if you need some space, this is an excellent way to get it.
One of the most popular Wisconsin ski resorts, Cascade Mountain has a 460 ft vertical drop, with its highest point reaching 1277 ft. With 10 lifts, it boasts 30 acres of skiing across four terrain parks with jumps and rails that change from day to day. The Cottontail Beginner slope is gentle, with smaller features making it great for less experienced skiers. North Park is for advanced skiers and has larger features and jumps. Boarderland natural park is a natural terrain park the winds and twists through wild terrain in the Boarderland area. Railyard Park has lots of rails and is lighted for use at night.
In addition to downhill skiing, Cascade Mountain offers snow tubing, which is a newfangled way of sledding. It requires no ski and very little physical agility. You grab a big inner tube and sit on it, or lie on it (face up or face down) and begin your descent. Through 800 ft of chute you'll race, wind in your face. The best thing is, once you get to the bottom, getting to the top is effortless because of the lifts. Tubing is a great way for entire families to enjoy the snow and winter fun, without worrying about skill or experience. Tubing fees are also less expensive than skiing, making it more attractive for those with kids or who are on a budget. But don't forget, kids under 12 always ski free!
The mountain offers professional beginner terrain park lessons, club programs for groups of 15 or more and several pass options. There are several season pass options ranging from Platinum to Bronze. Short term options include the Flex Ticket which offers up 8 consecutive hours of skiing. The Day/Night Ticket is valid from open to close, whereas a Closing Ticket covers one for the last four hours of the evening. A 2-Day Ticket is perfect for weekends where you can be on the slopes from open to close for two whole days. They also offer ski gear sales and rentals as well as tubing rentals.
