We will look for tips on cleaning and cooking fish and will post them here, but we want you to have the opportunity to join in and share. In fact, take a look at these videos from MuskyMod. He's got a great technique for cleaning and frying Bluegill.
I know my Great Aunt Shirley was an excellent cook. She could clean and fry a fish without batting an eye and her meals were always delicious. They had a cottage right on the water and I'm sure she gained knowledge from my grandpa, but she had her own techniques, too. We all need more fish in our diet and visitors to Wisconsin are lucky because they can get all the yummy fish they can possibly eat.
Recently, my sis and I visited The Shamrock Bar and Restaurant in Lake Tomahawk, Wisconsin and ordered a Walleye Fingers basket. Mmmmmm – good! Some people have no idea how yummy fresh Walleye is when it's fried like chicken fingers and served up in a basket with fries, slaw and lots of tartar sauce on the side. The Shamrock's Bloody Mary's are the to die for, too, and one of those with a basket of Walleye fingers is the perfect Sunday afternoon treat while watching the game on T.V. At least it was for us!
So what's your favorite fish recipe? Is it fried, baked, broiled or sautéed? What's your tartar sauce recipe, or do you just use lemons, vinegar or eat it alone? Any favorite side dishes?
These are the results of Wisconsin fishing at it's best – straight from the cooks, chefs, wives, husbands, grandmas and grandpas of the Midwest.
Share recipes and use a recipe. It's all about Wisconsin fish! And don't be afraid to rate and leave a comment on one of the recipes you've tried. It will surely help someone else. Just like my Aunt Shirley (pun intended).
