Ho Chunk Casino

I visited Ho chunk Casino Wisconsin Dells a few months ago. It was winter then, as you can tell by my photos, but nevertheless the surrounding area was beautiful even during that time. The drive was easy and the countryside picturesque.

I was impressed by the size of the place as I entered through the hotel. There is a nice carport where guests can load or unload their luggage and the lobby is quite large and I noticed they have over 300 rooms for guest lodging. I didn't stay there, but their accommodations range from standard suites to the honeymoon suite which has a romantic four post bed and fireplace - and huge!

I cruised the actual casino, playing a few games here and there, and my overall impression was that it was clean and busy. It wasn't smoky or dingy like some gambling establishments I've been to (ahem . . . I have relatives who live in Vegas, so my casino visitations have always been somewhat innocent. :o) ) It's important to me that there is a adequate ventilation to keep the noxious cigarettes from overwhelming the atmosphere as it can ruin the experience. This casino was very comfortable in that regard.

The decor was up-to-date and the staff, friendly. I was impressed that on a weekday the place seemed so busy. Perhaps it was the regular crowd or seniors. Whatever the reason, this resort seems to pull the people.

I was not visiting at a time when the buffet was going full force, nor was I able to catch any of the entertainment they advertised, but I did observe the facilities. It was quite nice. They have blackjack, craps, poker, off-track betting, bingo, slots and video poker.

Resort amenities include a pool, fitness center and a sauna. Dining facilities include the Copper Oak Steakhouse, offering fine charbroiled fare. The Stand Rock Buffet, offers $3.00 breakfasts and great Friday Fish Fries. The sports bar, named Wo-Zha-Wa Sports Bar & Grille has a full service bar and features sandwiches, burgers, pizza and the like - even fifty cent tacos on certain days. The Sunrise Cliffs Cafe is the family restaurants features breakfast specials and lunch specials. All restaurant specials do require a Rewards Club Membership, but that's no problem because it's easy to get.

You'll also find entertainment at the resort including such acts as Kool and the Gang and Bill Engvall. There are facilities for weddings, meetings and conventions here and from first-hand experience, I can tell you that parking is no problem.

The prices here are reasonable, the accomodations, more than comfortable.

I recommend a stop by Ho Chunk Casino when you're in the Dells area, or make it an entire weekend getaway.
